Noted film personality Javed Akhtar on Tuesday gave a befitting reply on AIMIM chief Asauddin Owaisi’s Bharat Mata ki Jai controversy in his retirement speech. One of country’s best writers said in his retirement speech that “adjournaments” and “polarisation” will not take the country forward.
The film lyricist pleaded with the Opposition saying the government to work together without thinking about next elections. Akhtar, who was nominated by the upper house of UPA government, slyly turned its table against AIMIM chief and MP Asauddin Owaisi who said on Monday that he won’t chant Bharat mata ki jai because the constitution does not ask him to do so. The noted writer went on to say, “the constitution does not ask him to wear sherwani (dress) and topi (cap)…I don’t care whether saying ‘bharat mata ki jai is my duty or not but it is my right’.
