The Central Government hardened its position as the Delhi Police arrested JNU’s Student Union President, Kanhaiya Kumar on the charge of sedition, after alleged anti-national sloganeering at the University camous on Friday.
The Home Minister, Rajnath Singh and HRD Minister, Smriti Irani condemned the slogans raised by JNU students in the protest meeting in memory of Afzal Guru, the hanged Parliament Attack convict. While boarding the flight to Gorakhpur, Home Minister Rajnath Singh gave a statement on the issue: “If anyone raises anti-India slogans, tries to raise questions on the country’s unity and integrity, they will not be spared.”
The HRD minister, Smriti Irani also asserted the Home Minister’s comment over the issue and said, “the nation will not tolerate an ‘insult’ to Mother India.”.
