JNU controversy which took its lead on 12th of Feb. with the arrest of JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar on grim charges of Sedition by Delhi Police, has raged a divisive debate on the term “nationalism” in country.
The speech of JNU President, Kanhaiya Kumar which now being cited as ‘a doctored video’ and the alleged sloganeering of certain Student Unions’ group which marked as “anti-nationalist” led the whole controversy begun, wherein the opposition and the political interference heated the atmosphere of JNU in capital.
Jawaharlal Nehru University is among one of the most prestigious universities and vasities in world, which holds an ‘autonomy’ that should never be violated. If we venture the present scenario of JNU, it seems no less than the border view with the massive deployment of police officials on the campus. Seemingly, the autonomy of institution has been attacked largely in nation which cannot be defended by any of the ways or arguments on “nationalism”.
The recent attack by ‘pseudo-patriots’ on JNU students and on many Journos inside the courtroom of Patiala House Court did not get diminished from the minds of victims and people, and sadly again another incident took place on the Day 2 of hearing outside the court.
Vpaksh.com openly and squarely condemns the deplorable attack of lawyers on students and journalists happened outside the Patiala House Court as lawlessness is no way to show ‘patriotism’ for motherland.
Universities and institutions are always reckoned as the open forum to discuss various issues, to speak your say loudly and clearly, to ask and raise questions if you feel any ‘wrong’ is happening in nation or in the world. But, holding an event in the memory of a terrorist like Afzal Guru and calling him a ‘martyr’, is itself a big shame on the so-called intellectual sense of those students or ‘naive politicians’ of JNU, who organized it even after the denial of university administration on the asked permission.
A healthy student politics has always been a strong part of Jawaharlal Nehru University since many years, and we all should let that precious quality and independence of JNU continue with open debates, but without letting students to be a part of any “anti-national” activity or remark constitutionally.
We firmly believe that the autonomy of educational institutions should be prevailed and supported with wide view, and the respected authorities of universities should deal the issues of students within the campus at theri own, but with the firm belief of non-acceptance of any “anti-national” activities in campus.
